Convinced that the American Indians were a vanishing people, Edward Sheriff Curtis set out to record their lives photographically & publish this record as photogravures in a set of books. In this pursuit, he took some 40,000 pictures between 1898 & 1930 of almost every tribe in Alaskia & West of the Mississippi. The Aurora History Museum has assembled an exhibit of Curtis' work from collectors & galleries that illustratest the incredible range of his subjects, as well as the quality of his finished works!
